The closer we get to retirement, the more Ben and I are itching to travel the world! In the past few months, we've discussed how to accomplish our goal. One of the options we've been throwing around is going from country to country every three months...you know, the typical tourist visa timeframe. That will allow us to see most of what we want to see in each country without the hassle of dealing with the country's government regarding their long-term stay laws. We'll also get short snapshots of the country/culture and if we like it, we can return at a later date and work through the long-term visa process. Obviously this type of living will involve a lot research ahead of time so we are already working that aspect. Big concerns are safety, cost of living (e.g., short-term apartment, transportation, food, etc.), and homeschooling (shouldn't be a big deal since we'll be on a tourist visa, but we still have to double-check just to make sure).
We are really excited at the prospect of this lifestyle (at least for a few years). :)
